“Trump Praises King Charles Ahead of US State Visit”

Date:

Donald Trump has praised King Charles once again and assured that his strained relationship with PM Keir Starmer will not impact the monarch’s upcoming US state visit. The US president has criticized the Prime Minister for decisions related to North Sea drilling and migration, hinting at possible changes to the UK-US trade deal. King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to visit the US for four days at the end of the month, coinciding with a period of tension in the transatlantic relationship due to Trump’s criticisms of UK and NATO allies.

The historic visit scheduled from April 27 to 30 will commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, with celebrations planned throughout the US. Trump, in an interview with Sky News following the release of King Charles’s US itinerary by Buckingham Palace, described the monarch as a “great gentleman” and downplayed any impact of his disagreements with Sir Keir on the royal visit.

During the interview, Trump criticized Starmer for his decisions on North Sea oil and immigration, expressing disappointment in Britain and other NATO allies for not supporting the US in certain international conflicts. He also hinted at the possibility of revisiting the terms of the trade deal with the UK. The Palace recently revealed more details about the King’s visit, including attending a traditional American Block Party in Virginia and meeting with various dignitaries.

The royal couple is expected to participate in various events, including private tea sessions, a Garden Party, a State Dinner at the White House, and an address to Congress by King Charles. The visit will also include stops in New York and Virginia, with a significant focus on historical and cultural landmarks. Following the US leg of the trip, Queen Elizabeth II will return to the UK while King Charles will continue his journey to Bermuda for further engagements related to the British Overseas Territory.
