An attendee at the Coachella festival faced a frightening incident resulting in a head injury. The individual was hurt when a heavy light fixture fell on them during the event.
The mishap occurred following a surprise set by DJ and producer John Summit at the Do LaB stage on Friday. In the middle of the show, a light fixture dropped into the crowd, causing one audience member to sustain a facial injury.
A witness described the distressed attendee as being in a chaotic state after the incident, mentioning that it caused a severe cut on her head. Joey Freshour, who was present in the crowd, shared on Instagram that the incident happened while everyone was enjoying the music and dancing.
Recounting the moment, he noted how the light structure fell and struck the girl on the side of her head, causing a significant cut. He further explained in a video that the woman received assistance from nearby audience members who signaled for medical aid and transported her to the medical tent.
The footage captured by Freshour showed the fallen light fixture on the ground and revealed the cables that were supposed to support it. He clarified that the DJ was unaware of the incident and attributed it to strong winds, which were also responsible for causing delays in Justin Bieber’s performance on the subsequent night.
Despite weather-related challenges, Bieber faced criticism from some fans for what they perceived as a lackluster performance. Many attendees expected a high-energy show but were surprised when Bieber opted to sit on a stool, playing his songs from a laptop and presenting a short medley of 12 tracks.
