Grace Stelmachowicz, residing in Squamish, B.C., shared her journey of deviating from the traditional path to success in a First Person column. However, in 2016, during her second year in biomedical engineering at the University of Guelph, she experienced a shift in her plans.
Instead of securing a summer engineering job as intended, she landed a position at a horseback trail riding establishment in Banff National Park. Despite this deviation from her career trajectory, her childhood experiences with horses on her family farm equipped her with the skills needed for the role. Guiding guests through the scenic Rockies, she found joy in exploring the mountains on horseback and connecting with nature.
