“Russian Officials Suggest Targeting Westminster Bridge in Retaliation”

Date:

Russian officials are suggesting that Vladimir Putin should target Westminster Bridge in retaliation for British drones allegedly destroying a Russian-controlled crossing during a Ukrainian operation. Video footage captured the explosion on the Konka, a tributary of the River Dnipro, which occurred in March last year. It has now been disclosed that Ukraine utilized British Malloy T-150 heavy-lift drones to attack the bridge.

The revelation has sparked anger among the Russians. State media propagandist Vladimir Kornilov criticized the British for openly boasting about their involvement in sabotage activities on Russian territory. While the explosion took place on Ukrainian soil according to international law, it was within territory invaded by Putin.

Kornilov suggested that it was time for Russia to boast about destroying Westminster Bridge, with the Houthis or Iranians potentially carrying out the strike. He expressed displeasure at the British’s apparent joy over their role in the terrorist attack and questioned how they would react if Westminster Bridge, located next to the Houses of Parliament, was destroyed.

Westminster Bridge has historically attracted Russian interest, with images showing spy Anna Chapman on the bridge before her detention in New York by the FBI. Another pro-Putin outlet, Tsargrad, criticized the British for their delight in being implicated in the terrorist attack, suggesting a shift in targets to the decision-making center.

The aerial strike on the Konka bridge was initially believed to be a standard attack, but it was later revealed that Ukraine’s 426th Unmanned Systems Regiment deployed heavy-lifting drones on over 30 missions in 60 days, delivering 1.5 tons of explosives while evading Russian forces. Ukrainian Colonel Oleksii Bulakhov explained the method used to destroy the bridge’s weakest points with a 50kg shaped charge lowered by cable and ignited by a missile.
