The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will honor Kyle Lowry by retiring his No. 7 jersey after their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10th. Lowry will join Vince Carter as the second player in Raptors’ history to receive this recognition at Scotiabank Arena.
Retiring at the age of 40, Lowry concluded his 20-year NBA career as a Raptor in July by signing a symbolic one-day contract with the team. Expressing his excitement, Lowry stated that Toronto has always been his home and retiring as a Raptor with his jersey hanging in the arena holds immense significance for him.
Reflecting on his time with the team, Lowry emphasized the special bond he shared with his teammates, the organization, the city, and the fans, culminating in their championship victory in 2019. During his nine seasons with the team, Lowry made significant contributions, becoming the franchise leader in assists, steals, and three-pointers.
The ceremony to retire Lowry’s jersey will be a memorable event for him, as he looks forward to sharing this moment with his family, teammates, the organization, the city, and fans across Canada.
